Today, we have been distributing stickers with the slogan “Najivunia Kuwa Mkenya/I am Proud to be Kenyan” across the Country. Stickers were distributed in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Kisii, Eldoret, Nakuru, Machakos, Garissa, Meru, Kakamega, Nyeri. Other stickers have been placed in all Post Office boxes in the Country.
REASON FOR THE CAMPAIGN
This is a campaign that started two years ago and is meant to get Kenyans to think more of what it means to be a Kenyan and the many blessings we have.
It is important for us to think of our identity;
- What does it mean to be a Kenyan?
- What characteristics describe us as Kenyans?
- What do we want for Kenya?
- And most important, what is each one of us doing to make Kenya an even greater Country than it is today?
PHILOSOPHY BEHIND THE CAMPAIGN
It does not matter whether you like or dislike a particular leader, political party or government, you should never hate your Country.
Some people think that it is the other – the Government and donors who can help them. However, power lies with people – by the decisions we make, the leaders we choose and the agenda we push. The question then becomes: – What are you as a Kenyan doing for another Kenyan and for our Country? Patriotism outlives every Government, every political party and every politician.
WHAT NEXT?
On Madaraka Day, we had the Finals of a Music Extravaganza on Patriotism. Before that, two years ago, we opened up the National Parks for free to Kenyans. The stickers are part of a wider campaign to instill national pride and nationalism and this will continue throughout the year and years.
FINAL THOUGHT
When we join together as Kenyans, with the same spirit and zeal that we are known for, then nothing can defeat us. Kenya is going places and we can make it together.
Jina langu ni Alfred Mutua na Najivunia Kuwa Mkenya.
God bless you, God Bless all of us and God bless Kenya.

Today, we should have been distributing food stamps to the millions of starving Kenyans with the slogan “Navumilia Kuwa Mkenya. We should have been making sure thet our taps have water both in our major towns and in the rural areas.
”ATI” REASON FOR THE CAMPAIGN
As much as our country is blessed, and we are proud of the peace and prosperity (and to give credit where it’s due… we are beginning to see improvements) It is premature for us to jivinia when we are in actual fact still “vumulia-ring”
It is important for us to think of our identity; I agree
- Q: What does it mean to be a Kenyan?
- A: Still poor and unemployed!
- Q: What characteristics describe us as Kenyans?
- A: Still corrupt and criminal!
- Q: What do we want for Kenya?
- A: Basic Human Needs and Infrastructure!
- Q: And most important, what is each one of us doing to make Kenya an even greater Country than it is today?
- A: Tunavumilia Kuwa Wakenya!
”ATI” PHILOSOPHY BEHIND THE CAMPAIGN
True that patriotism outlives every Government, every political party and every politician. That’s why tunavumilia…
Manoeuvring through the pot-holes of the filthy streets of Nairobi… beautiful billboards boast our athletes achievements overseas… Athletes who our government does not support and half of whom have moved to Qatar in the UAE. What about our Cricket team and our 7s Rugby team… When was the last time the government invested in Kenyan sports? In Kenya, most of our sportmen have to take days off their regular jobs to represent our country in international events. They use their own resources to participate in the sports they love and represent our country. Duh!
As Kenyans, we have been taking of ourselves since the days of harambee and cooperative societies while our politicians also help themselves to our taxes… we need not be reminded…
”ATI” WHAT NEXT?
Music Extravaganzas on Patriotism will not feed the hungry or heal the sick. And how do we get to visit the National Parks for free if there are no roads to get there.
We need the very basics before we can ask what’s next? One cannot walk before you crawl and we as Kenyan’s cannot stand tall and “jivunia” while we are still “vumilia-ring!”
FINAL THOUGHT
I wonder how much of taxpayers money is being spent on these stickers and the entire campaign and how much of it is going into individuals pockets instead of being used to help the millions of poor, unemployed, sick and starving Kenyans.
Jina langu ni Tema Mate na Navumilia Kuwa Mkenya.
